What is the radial clearance of spherical roller bearings

What is the radial clearance of spherical roller bearings

Radial clearance (RIC) is the radial clearance inside the bearing that allows the bearing to have sufficient internal clearance under fitted mounting and normal operating conditions.

If the spherical roller bearing has a tapered hole (K), the interference is required to be larger than that of the cylindrical hole bearing, and the larger interference will cause the reduction of RIC. For the tapered hole bearing, when choosing This is important to take into account the reduction in RIC.

Example: 22328K/C3 bearing, (inner diameter is 140mm, C3 group clearance) is installed on the tapered shaft. After measuring with a feeler gauge, the RIC is 0.178mm. It can be found from the table that a proper fit can be achieved when the RIC is reduced by 0.064 to 0.089 mm. The clearance after assembly (0.178-0.076=0.102mm), so the lock nut must be screwed until the RIC reaches 0.102mm.

Several factors contribute to the reduction of RIC. Pressing the inner ring onto a solid steel shaft will cause the ring to expand by approximately 80% of the interference. Pressing the outer ring into the steel or cast iron housing will reduce the RIC by about 60%. For hollow shafts or non-steel materials, please contact our sales technicians for the RIC reduction.

The minimum and maximum values of RIC are listed in two adjacent columns under the corresponding RIC. Each single column represents the boundaries of adjacent RICs. For example, the minimum value of C5 is the maximum value of C4, and the minimum value of C4 is also the maximum value of C3.

The following is the description of the radial clearance code:

Illustrate
C2
Tight clearance for minimal radial or axial displacement after assembly, such as 22308CA/C2.
C0The basic clearance can generally meet the fit with the shaft and seat recommended in the Fitting section, such as 22308CA.
C3Loose clearance, used where both the inner and outer rings are in extra interference fit or where there is a temperature difference, such as 22308CA/C3.
C4Super loose clearance for large interference fit or large temperature difference, such as 22308CA/C4.
C5The special loose clearance is used in the occasions where the inner and outer rings are in a large interference fit and there is a large temperature difference, such as 22308CA/C5.
